Life is too beautiful to drink ordinary wine. This is the essence of the Bernardus brand and it was our starting point when we crafted their Brand & E-commerce platform. Exceptional instead of ordinary was our goal for every aspect of this project.

Tangible products

Wine is a product that is deeply tied to taste and emotion. For Bernardus Wine, we explored ways to strengthen the connection between the customer and the product, aiming to make the brand experience as intense as possible.

We developed a product-centred approach based on the concept of "tangible products." The primary products on the website are bottles of wine. Our first step was to make the bottle feel as real as possible(even in size), allowing users to familiarise themselves with it.

We achieved this through the use of interface animation and high-quality, photorealistic 3D animations of the bottles, presented as transparent HTML5 videos throughout the website. The interface and graphical elements remain clean and stylish, while the bottle dynamically pops off the screen, interacting with user input.

The next step was to focus on the actual product: the wine inside the bottle. Let's face it, the real magic happens once you uncork the wine. This is when the color, aroma, taste, and overall feel of the product truly come to life. It's also the moment that marks the beginning of creating memorable experiences—whether dining, laughing, enjoying a vacation, or traveling. So creating ways for this to be shown on the website was also a top priority for us.

To achieve this we created different content modules, like imge sliders, full screen video’s and other editorial content blocks that were all very focused on showing high quality content. All of this was done with one goal in mind: to make an emotional connection with the website visitor by making the product more tangible and, therefore, more desirable.

To ensure that the high-end brand experience is the same for everybody, regardless their device, we designed and developed this platform with optimal scalability and responsiveness in mind. Always searching for the optimal layout for the scale of the device on which it is being viewed and making sure the performance is also frictionless across al the different devices.

Optimized for Conversion

Making the path to purchase as convenient as possible is essential when building an e-commerce platform. For Bernardus, we've upped the game by designing features like 'quick buy' that feels super intuitive and complements the high-end feeling of the website and the Bernardus products.
